Philippine architecture is an elusive thing, because while it makes full use of modern technology, it is a residue of the different overlays of foreign influences left in the Philippines over the centuries … What resulted may have been a hybrid, a totally new configuration of Philippine architecture.
- Leandro Locsin, National Artist for Architecture
Ayala and Filipinas Heritage Library hosted “Noon at Ngayon,” a photography competition-exhibit on the evolution of Philippine architecture that paid tribute to the Filipino as a visual artist and a historical witness. Each entry was a comparative study of the past and present condition of architectural landmarks to show how far we, as a people, have progressed, and sometimes regressed. The results vary from awe-inspiring to deep sadness, but always remarkable.
“Noon at Ngayon” was done in partnership with Ayala, Aperture Trading Corporation, Axis Global Technologies, Inc., EPSON, Emerald Headway Distributors, Inc., JT Photoworld, Goblet Catering Services, and Parasol Bar and Restaurant
