FHL Gears Up for 2011

The Filipinas Heritage Library (FHL) has an exciting 2011 coming up. This year, the library celebrates its 15th anniversary and its mother-organization Ayala Foundation’s 50th. It is also the year to commemorate the country’s national hero, Jose Rizal’s, 150th birthday.
The library is set to go full blast on a number of projects this year. Launched last year in Tiwi, Albay with Chevron Geothermal Philippines Holdings, Inc. and San Pascual, Batangas, with Chevron Philippines, Inc. the MyLibrary project is set to continue its advocacy to improve library facilities and collections as well as promote the love of reading in various locales in the country. Another project to look forward to this year is the World Book and Copyright Day celebrated every April 23. FHL joins the National Book Development Board and the Intellectual Property Office Philippines in celebrating the day at the UP Ayala Land Technohub.

This February, FHL has partnered with the Manila Chamber Orchestra Foundation (MCOF) in celebrating the talents of young musicians. The MCOF Young Artists Series 2011 will be held at the Filipinas Heritage Library to showcase the talents of Yin-Chu Zou (Feb. 24), Lorenzo Medel (March 3), and Nomher Nivall (March 17).

To further the Filipino people’s knowledge and interest in art and writing, FHL also has an exciting line-up of workshops and lectures for the year. There are already three writing workshops available in the library such as Back to Basics: A Refresher Course on Grammar, Write Right: A Business Writing Workshop, and Art and Writing. The Alcove, FHL’s photography nook, is also offering its Digital Photography 101 photography workshop which began in January.

There are more activities and projects for the Filipinas Heritage Library for 2011. If you would like to receive updates, you may call us at 8921801 or send an e-mail to fhl_inquiry@ayalafoundation.org and request to join our mailing list.
