Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - "He grew up on volcanic Talim Island, in the middle of Laguna de Bay. In his pursuit of education, he vied for a scholarship despite the odds. He was rated with a 'C' by his teachers but he proved them wrong by getting to be 'Number 5' in his first year at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio. When WWII broke out, he joined the HUNTERS ROTC Guerrillas, becoming the Chief of Staff of its Supremo, receiving the guerrilla rank of Lt. Colonel. To this day, every veteran and their descendants, particularly the Hunters, refer to him as 'Colonel.' Subsequently, Col. San Juan was sent for further studies to Fort Benning, Georgia, U.S.A. The charmed exploits of Col. Frisco San Juan as a guerrilla freedom fighter is also the story of the HUNTER's Guerillas, brought to life once more from the retelling of one of its brave and wise leaders. He was only 20 then, but his mind is still sharp to remember the details of events that happened seventy-two years ago. The saga of the HUNTER Guerillas is one of the most well-loved wartime stories, perhaps because it was about a group made up mostly of young ROTC graduates who organized and trained among themselves and bravely deployed for combat against the mighty Imperial Forces of Japan..."
