- Summary, etc - The study is a significant addition to studies on Philippine history/living conditions/sociology and Philippine studies in general. The raw data presented is extremely valuable and the manner of presentation is quite good. The objectives of the projects are laudable and. I think, have been achieved by the researchers. The documentation of people's experiences and life during the Japanese occupation is long overdue, and this project goes a long way towards this end. Especially important is the choice of documenting ordinary people's lifestyle, especially those in the provinces.
The significance of the study lies in its bringing together many different experiences and perspectives, yet the war itself and the thematic guidelines form a common thread ... there have been many accounts of people's war experiences published recently; these are individuals personal accounts, many of them vivid and valuable. Nonetheless, this is this perhaps the first time that the accounts of close to a hundred of people have been brought together through methodologies that allow both the respondents and the researchers to explore these experiences in-depth, and to discover emerging patterns that shape the collective experience of the period.
