- Summary, etc. - ""The author became a teacher when he graduated from Kyoto University in 1935 (Showa 10). For that reason, he was sent to Philippines as a military officer (Educational Personnel) in 1943 (Showa 18). He surrendered to U.S. army in Kiangan in Northern Luzon in Sep 1945 and then was able to return to Japan in Jan 1946. The book is described Battle of Northern Luzon focusing on "Shoubu Shudan" (Unit Shoubu). The Unit Shoubu was responsible for defending Northern Luzon. To write this book, the author read a lot of Japanese and U.S books about the Unit and interviewed the persons involved, and in addition, he conducted a field work in Northern Luzon." - Masuko Takehisa
- Summary, etc. - 筆者は昭和10年京都大学卒業後、教員となった。昭和18年、陸軍武官（教育要員）としてフィリピンへ派遣された。昭和20年9月、ルソン島北部のキアンガンで米軍に投降し、翌年1年1月復員した。本書は、北部ルソンの防衛を担当した尚武集団に焦点を当てて、北部ルソンの戦いについて執筆されている。尚武集団とは北部ルソンの防衛を担当した部隊である。本書の執筆に際して、筆者は尚武集団に関する数多くの日米の文献を調べ、多くの人々の証言を求め、加えて、現地調査を行った。- Masuko Takehisa
