- Summary, etc. - "The book is the author's war experience in Manila, Philippines. He was a high school teacher and was called up for military service as a medic. He was sent to Manila in February 1943 (Showa 18) and worked in a hospital for Japanese army in McKinley in the suburbs of Manila. But he escaped jungle in the eastern part of Manila due to the worsened war situation against Japan. He surrendered to U.S army in September 1945 (Showa 20) and returned to Japan in December of the same year." - Masuko Takehisa
