Title
  • Title - Pottery-making: Shaping pot with mallet
Notes
  • Notes - A final step in molding pots is smoothing out the surface by continous , light stroke with a mallet of smooth stone or flat wood. Imperfections in shape are also corrected in this manner. The vessel is then set to dry under the sun or where there is free current of air. Drying removes the water content of the clay mixture, thereby lessening the liability of shrinkage or cracking later on.
