General Note
  • General note - Lukban was the second parish established in 1595 by the Franciscans in the province of Tayabas, which was founded 15 years earlier. Evangelization started there in 1578 when the Franciscan friars, Diego de Oropesa and Juan de Placencia, baptized the residents. The post-liberation in 1945, restoration of the Lukban Church facade follows the lines and the baroque surface ornamentation of the third church, which was constructed in 1738. The original, built in 1595, was destroyed in 1629; while the second church, constructed between 1630-40, was destroyed by fire in 1733. Patron saint of the town is St. Louis of Tolouse (San Luis Obispo de Tolosa), whose feast is celebrated on the 19th of August each year.
