- General note - Photo of restored facade and recently constructed tower. Located on top of a hill, the first church of wood was erected in 1605 by the Dominicans. The second one, which was of brick and stone, was built through the generosity of townspeople Gaspar de Gamboa and Agata Yangta and inaugurated in 1720. Destroyed by the earthquake of 1892 and reconstructed in 1901.
