| General Note |
- General note - White silk dalmatic, ornately embroidered by local women in gold thread and sequins, ca. 1800. Patterns were based on European prints in missals and hymn books, liturgical vestment with short open sleeves, an opening for the head and open at the sides from the hem to the shoulders. This is usually worn by a deacon (lowest rank in the hierarchy of Roman Catholic church) at solemn Mass and processions and also by a cardinal, bishop or abbot at Pontifical Mass. Reaching to or below the knees, it is so-named because originally it was made of Dalmatian wool.
