General Note
  • General note - Photo of red brick church of Pavia, built by the Augustinian friar, Antonio Fermentino, who served twice as parish priest in 1884 and 1887. The Renaissance structure was used as a garrison by the Japanese and during the battle of liberation in March, 1945, American tanks punched a hole through the edifice. Two Greek crosses decorate the facade above the triple-arched main doorway. The parish of Pavia was established in 1862 with Sta. Monica as its patroness. The town is some 14 kms. from Iloilo City.
