General Note
  • General note - This huge church of limestone has a repainted façade and a three-storey belltower. The town was founded on October 16, 1730, by Fr. Ignacio de Olalde, its first parish priest who also built a fort and a high-walled plaza which are still preserved. Argao, 67 kms. south of Cebu City, faces east and the nearest Cebu town to Bohol island. This made the place accessible to Muslim invaders during the Spanish regime.
