  • Title - Noel Escultura: Interisland trade.
Notes
  • Notes - According to Magellan's chronicler Antonio Pigafetta, there was a flourishing maritime commerce among the islands of the archipelago during the pre-colonial times. The Tagalogs of Luzon were said to be excellent middlemen. Trade goods included foodstuffs, livestock, pottery, boats, gold, and even slaves. The bigger ports, like Cebu and Butuan, were regularly visited by ships, including those of Malay-speaking Borneans.
