  • General note - The church was founded in 1581 under the advocation of Santa Monica. The original church was built in 1645. Presently, after the church was damaged during an earthquake in 1880 and was never restored again, only the belltower remains. Photo shows the new church built from modern materials, adjacent to the former tower and the old convent.
