  • Notes - To meet the food shortage brought on by the war, subsitute foods were used. Banana trunk and rootstock, used as hog feed before the war, were eaten as vegetables or pickles. KastaƱog (roasted coconut meat) took the place of castaƱas (chestnuts), and tutong (burned rice) was boiled in water and taken as coffee.
