General Note
  • General note - This picture was probably taken in approximately between 1936-1937 in a family home in Malate. The children are Lourdes Beltran-Hansen, her brothers and their cousins both on the Gil and Beltran side. The boy in shorts at the center is Reuben Nieto, the son of Manuel Nieto, who was Pres. Manuel L. Quezon's aide and secretary. The adult in the back is Aida Sanz y Acuna, the first cousin of Pres. Manuel A. Roxas, and sister Marietta Sanz Beltran who is not in this photo. Aida was a piano teacher for the children and as of this writing (2008), still lives in Metro Manila. She would have been 24 years old at the time this photo was taken. The children from left to rigth are Antonio "tonito" Beltran y Gil, 10 years old, Conchita Catala y Gil, 4 years old, Lourdes Beltran Gil, 11 years old, Baby Concepcion Beltran y Sanz, 1 year old, held by Ramon Nieto, Baby Ramon Catala y Gil, 1 year old, held by Ramon Beltran y Gil, Jose Mestres y Beltran, 12, and Jose Maria Beltran y Gil, 4 years old. Ramon Catala currently lives in California, Lourdes Beltran-Hansen lives in Arizona, Jose Mestres lives in Australia and Jose Beltran in Nevada. Jose Mestres and Reuben Nieto were classmates and Jose still remembers lunching with Reuben and President Quezon at MalacaƱang.
