- General note - Bingham, a native of Pennsylvania, came to the Philippines in 1898 as a a member of the First Washington Volunteer Infantry. On his discharge, he formed Squires, Bingham and Co. with Roy Squires, another member of the Infantry. Besides photography, their outfit handled the wholesale and retail of photographic supplies. The firm grew to be the largest in Manila then, and earned a reputation for the realistic reproduction of Philippine scenes.
