- General note - Brereton was the commander of the Far East Air Force (FEAF) which was established in October 1941 with stations in Clark, Nichols, and Iba. The FEAF was crippled by Japanese air strikes on December 8, 1941, about two hours before its scheduled assault on Formosa. Brereton relocated his Nichols headquarters to Mindanao then, finally, to Burma.
