| General Note |
- General note - Commander of the Spanish Navy, with headquarters in Fort Santiago. An unfortunate blunder was committed by the navy when it attacked Cavite in November 1896. Failing to foresee that it was lowtide, the landing boats had to anchor some 300 meters away from the shore to discharge soldiers. They, then, had to wade in murky water fully exposed to rebel fire. The warships were also ineffective as they were too far to hit any of the insurgents'' trenches.
