- General note - Heacock was a jeweler from Salem. Ohio. He came to the Philippines in 1901 to open a branch of his San Francisco store. In a few years, his shop was the best known American jewelry store in Manila engagig in the wholesale and retail of jewelries. He started out in America as travelling salesman for several large jewelry houses, then engaged in the business himself in Sioux City, Iowa. He then set up in 1894 his own firm in San Francisco, California engaging in wholesale trade. Before he went to Manila to expand his market, he formed a partnership with his brother- in -law, Freer, in 1898. He was Vice- President and trustee of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Phililippines in 1902 and became its president.
