- General note - A graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music, Loving trained the Philippine Constabulary Band organized in 1902. Competing in the Loisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904, the band won the second prize. When a black out occurred while it was performing, the band continued to play aided only by a white handkerchief Major Loving had attached to his baton.
