- General note - The German scientist (in white) whom the Americans found settled in Baguio and married to a native in 1900. His help had been sought by Dean C. Worcester to locate fresh water springs and to lead the advance party of the government road-buildig crew. Scheerer had ealier been host of Manuel Quezon, then an officer of the Filipino revolutionary army who found the foreigner so adapted to the highlands and people''s culture that he walked around in a G-string.
