General Note
  • General note - Pioneer American photographer in the Philippines. Squires was in the First Washington Volunteer Infantry sent to the Philippines at the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898. On his discharge from the Army, he stayed in Manila and with a partner formed Squires, Bingham and Co., a commercial firm engaged in photography and, later, firearms. While a private in Bataan, Major Manuel L. Quezon surrendered through him to the American authorities.
