  • Title - Harry Hill Bandholtz
General Note
  • General note - An American Army officer, Bandholtz served as Tayabas governor in 1902-1903. He also served as Assistant Chief of the Philippine Constabulary and in this capacity brought about the surrender of the outlaw rebel-leader, Simeon Ola of Albay. Bandholtz was born on December 18, 1864 in Michigan, entered West Point Academy where he graduated in1890, was appointed that same year as 2nd Lietenant to the 6th Infantry, promoted and transferred as 1st Lieutenant to the 7th Infantry where he served until 1899, and shortly after, promoted to Captain in the 2nd Infantry. During the Spanish-American war, he participated in the Santiago(Cuba) campaign. He was sent to the Philippines in 1900 and was stationed in Tayabas province. He was so well-liked by the people of that province such that they chose him as their Governor in 1902. He was a good friend of the future congressman Manuel L. Quezon and helped the latter politically.
