- General note - The Manila-born deputy to the Spanish Cortes, representing the district of Morella (Castellon). Military man who was born in Manila in 1834. Educated at the Academia de Estado Mayor in Madrid. He became captain in Cuba, later Brigadier-General in 1871, and then Chief of Staff, Field Marshal and Minister of War. Decorated for militaty merit with the Cross of Isabela la Catolica. He was also a Deputy of the Cortes. As Minister of War he refused to grant clemency to Dr. Rizal.
