General Note
  • General note - Dalrymple, a hydrographer, was the deputy secretary of the British East India Company. He was sent to Sulu in 1762 to open trade relations with its inhabitants. He noted how little the islands produced for foreign commerce and attributed the dearth to bad government by the Spaniards.
