| General Note |
- General note - Recent years saw a great improvement in the former settlement due to the immigration of settlers from all parts of the country. This photo taken from the church belltower is an interesting contrast of modern buildings against the timberlands in the background. The park has been named after Commissioner Teopisto Guingona, first civilian governor for non-Christian tribes in Mindanao. Four fountains surround the Rizal monument. Designed by the same architect (Burnham) who did the Luneta Park, the move was led by Mrs. Helen Sanchez, wife of former Butuan mayor, now Agusan del Norte representative. Butuan City has a total land area of 78,560 hectares. The climate has no distinct wet and dry seasons. It is located along the national highway from Misamis Oriental to Surigao. A newly-opened highway to Davao also crosses the southeast portion of the city.
