- General note - This building is located on top of a hill overlooking the Agusan river bank. Agusan became the ninth province to be divided since 1946 and the second whose division was decided by its people in a plebiscite, on November 14, 1967. Agusan del Sur was proclaimed a separate province under R.A. 4979 comprising of 10 towns -- Prosperidad, the capital, Bayugan, Esperanza, San Francisco, Santa Josefa, Talacogon, Loreto, Bunawan, Veruela and La Paz. With a P2 million annual budget, it is rated as a first-class province. The land area is 888,100 hectares; population is 175,549 (1970 Census).
