- General note - Shown is a lithograph of the Mayon Volcano emitting smoke. The Mayon Volcano had been known for its almost perfect symmetry before its eruption in 1928. Known throughout the Bicol Region as "Mayong," its name was derived from "magayon," which means "beautiful" or "sublime."
