Title Statement
  • Title - Kennon Road
General Note
  • General note - Photo shows a panoramic view of the wagon road built from December 1900 to January 1905. The estimated cost was only P75,000 while the timetable was less than a year. In August 1900, Capt. Charles W. Meed was released from his duties as Manila City Engineer by General Arthur MacArthur and temporarily assigned to the Philippine Commission to supervise the building of the most advantageous route for a railroad to the mountains of Baguio. As later developments showed, the railroad project was indefinitely shelved and in its place a cart and wagon road was built.
