| General Note |
- General note - Photo of the official residence of Bohol''s chief executive in Tagbilaran City, some 5 kilometers from the provincial capitol building. Called the "governor''s mansion," it was first occupied by Aniceto Clarin, the first provincial governor appointed by the Americans in 1901. The Americans established a civil government in the province on April 20, 1901, following the surrender of local insurgents under Col. Pedro Samson. On July 17, of the same year, because of continued disturbances, the province was placed under military control until March 3, 1902, when the civil government was restored. The province''s first elected governor was Esteban Bernido (1960), the last appointive executive (1958). Carlos P. Garcia, governor from 1934 to 1940, later became President of the Republic of the Philippines (1957-62).
