| General Note |
- General note - Another photo of the chocolate hills in Buenos Aieres, Carmen. In the town of Carmen, the hills cover an extensive area. A German scientist stayed in Bohol in 1968 to conduct a study on the formation of the hills and theorized that the hills were irregularities at some area of the cean bed caused by a series of submarine volcanic eruptions during the Tertiary era, some 50-60 million years ago. A he island which later during the Recent (Holocene) era or some 200,000 years ago, the island of Bohol appeared above sea level and the irregularities formed during the Tertiary upheaval have remained as conical hills in the interior plain of the island.
