| General Note |
- General note - Dalaguete has preserved the ruins of small limestone watch-towers constructed during the Spanish period as a protection against Muslim pirates. Each tower had a bell. Whenever Muslim vintas appeared, the bells would ring and all the women, children, and old people would flee to the hills. All able-bodied armed themselves, and seek refuge inside the watchtowers to repel the pirates.
