- General note - Located at heart of the city''s commercial district, the city hall was constructed in 1926 during the term of Sesencio Villarosa, acting Municipal President. Davao City was officially born on March 16, 1937, although the act creating the city (Commonwealth Act No. 51) was passed on Oct. 16, 1936. A southern trade center, the city claims to be the "largest in the world" in point of area; which is 244, 005 hectares or 133,754 sq. km.
