General Note
  • General note - Photo of the historically significant beach resort some 9 km. from the heart of Davao City. Here the Japanese, led by Admiral Shiroya, landed on December 20, 1941. Alfonso Odoza, the district engineer, was designated city mayor by the Japanese. Later during the occupation, the seat of government was transferred to Tugbok. The city was retaken on May 2, 1945, by the American forces under the command of Major-General Woodruff. Pantaleon Pelayo was appointed first post-liberation mayor.
