- General note - Photo shows the inscriptions and the archdiocese''s coat-of-arms on the facade. The palace was built in April 1948 by Mons. Jose Ma. Cuenco, Jaro''s first archbishop; Juan F. Nakpil was the architect. The original bishop''s palace was erected by Jaro''s first bishop, the Dominican Mariano Cuartero who assumed office in 1867. He was succeeded by Mons. Leandro Arrue (Recollect) in 1895, Andres Ferrero (Recollect) in 1898, Frederich Zadok Rooker in 1903, Denish Dougherty in 1908, Maurice Foley in 1916, James McCloskey in 1920 and finally Jose Ma. Cuenco, the first Filipino bishop of Jaro. The seculars took over the bishopric starting in 1903.
