- General note - Capitol building of the province of Iloilo, constructed in 1927 during the term of Governor Jose B. Ledesma. Iloilo is one of the four provinces of Panay Island, the others being Capiz, Antique and Aklan. It occupies an area of 5,324 sq. kms.; has a very irregular coastline and is dotted with numerous small islands and islets (nearly 70 in all), the biggest and most important of which is the sub-province of Guimaras. Basically an agricultural province, its chief crops are rice and sugar cane; fishing is the third main source of income. The province has 43 municipalities.
