| General Note |
- General note - Small-time fishermen who cannot afford to own a basnig have to content themselves with smaller boats -- motorized, ored or sailed -- for catching fish. These vessels are not brought too far out and are used only at daytime. Although nets may also be used, a labay (Visayan term for any kind of longline) suspended from the vessel is used. Caught along the shored are small mackarel, the bulao and agumaa, and the tamban, the most predominant of the sardine species.
