| General Note |
- General note - Photo shows the municipal building of the town which played host to the American liberation forces that landed on 20 October 1944. It was a major religious station for the Jesuits in the late 16th century but was, nevertheless, merged with Dulag. Moro pirates made frequent raids on the town which grew faster than its neighbors anyway. The seat of government was transferred to Palo from Carigara after the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1768 but was moved to Tanauan, then to Dagami and finally to Tacloban in the 1770s.
