- General note - The residential and industrial zones of Makati north of Buendia are shown in photo. In developing Makati, the squatters had to be resettled first. They were sold lands at very low prices, payable in ten years. Then the industrial sector was enticed to transfer from the congested city of Manila, again by selling land at reduced prices; and for the managers and the social elite, high-income residential villages were developed, starting with Forbes Park in 1948. More streets were constructed with the development of other residential villages like the San Lorenzo in 1952, Bel Ajr in '54, Urdaneta in ''57, San Miguel in ''60, Magallanes and Dasmariñas in ''62, along with some low-income housing villages. Zoning rules were strictly imposed not only in building houses but also in erecting edifices along Ayala and Buendia. Building construction in the administrative zone started in 1956.
