- General note - Capitol building of Marinduque province, erected in 1927. Marinduque was formerly a sub-province of Batangas, then of Tayabas until 1921 when it was created as a separate province through the efforts of Representative (later Chief Justice) Ricardo Paras. It has six municipalities: Boac, Mogpog, Sta. Cruz, Torrijos, Buenavista and Gasan. The island is approximately 96,213 sq. kilometers in area, mountainous and well-wooded; its provincial products are copra and rice. It is separated from mainland Luzon by a 3 to 4-hour motorboat ride or some 45 minutes of air travel from Manila.
