| General Note |
- General note - The mountainous province of Marinduque was originally named after its highest peak, Mount Malindig, which is located in the southeastern point of the island in the town of Torrijos. Photo shows the 3,877-foot high inactive volcano and to the right, a tiny, rocky hump of an islet, called Elefante, which is one-fourth of a mile in diameter. Malindig was named after a legendary heroine, Maria Malindig, queen and enchantress of the kingdom of Marinduque.
