- General note - Shown is a stone bridge along the La Carlota - Garanja Road. Economic progress came to Negros in the second quarter of the 19th century with the increase in the export of cash crops, particularly sugar. Migrations from Cebu, Bohol, Antique, Capiz and Iloilo gained momentum and many new estates were opened. La Carlota, formerly Barrio Simancas, became a town in 1871 and a parish four years later. 1916
