  • General note - Photo shows a panoramic view of the leper colony considered the largest in the world in the early 1900s. Thatch-roofed houses of residents afflicted with what was then thought to be a contagious disease were distributed on the coastal areas of this tiny island in the Calamian group. The Calanianes are found southwest of Mindoro and northeast of Palawan, c. 1904
