| General Note |
- General note - Shown is the old town hall undergoing reconstruction. The town of San Fernando, its name given in honor of Fernando III, the King of Castilla and Leon in Spain, was founded in 1754. The earliest attempt to move the provincial capital from Bacolor to San Fernando occurred in 1852-1853, though it was only in 1904 that the transfer became official. A major factor that ultimately decided the transfer was the opening of a railroad system that passed from the north to south through San Fernando.
