| General Note |
- General note - The town, located in the northern part of the Bondoc peninsula, southern Quezon province, is built on a promontory of rolling hills overlooking Tayabas Bay. In photo appears Maaliw hill upon which the church was built and around which the third town settlement was established in 1776. The original settlement, founded in 1754 by Juan Mauricio, was situated farther inland on the bank of the Mayubok River. Looted and burned by the Muslims, the townsite was transferred in 1760 along the banks of the Cawayanin River. This settlement met a similar fate 6 years later. The survivors under Buenaventura Salvador set up the town at its present site between the Cawayanin and Mayubok Rivers.
