| General Note |
- General note - The caves of Sohoton park are numerous, the area being a limestone region, and culturally significant. Chinese wares and potsherds dating as far back to the late Sung and Yuan dynasties have been recovered from some of these caves. Photo shows the outer chamber of Panhulgan or Guinhulgan cave, situated on the east bank of the Sohoton River across the historic cliff of the same name. Some of the archeological finds here were a piece of a big Chinese stoneware gar, probably early Ming; fragments of a skullcap; a greyish-greenceladon bowl of the late Sung type; and local earthenwares having rims with incised decorations of the Kalanay type. Like many caves in the region, the Panhulgan was used for both habitation and burial.
