| General Note |
- General note - Two Medical Mission Sisters pose in front of hospital intended to help the minorities in the Sulu area who are too poor to bring their sick to Jolo. The hospital, a two-story unpainted building, stands at the edge of Bongao island, a few meters away from the poblacion. It is the only one within a radius of 100 miles. The nearest hospital is in Jolo, a 17-hour journey by kumpit, a small motor-run boat, or a slightly more pleasant trip by inter-island steamers which operate only every 10 days. Plans are made for the expansion of the hospital to accommodate 12 to 15 in-patients and to provide a floating clinic for the distant villages. The nuns envision a community health center which could give comprehensive health care to the entire community.
