- General note - Ruins of the gate of the barracks named in honor of Colonel James S. Pettit, Commanding Officer of the Second Military District and later Inspector General and Officer-in-Charge of Civil Affairs, Zamboanga at the turn of the century. This site was occupied by the U.S. forces after the capture of Zamboanga City from the Spaniards on November 16,1899; by the Japanese forces in 1942-45; recaptured by the Americans on March 10, 1945; and finally turned over to the Philippine government on July 4, 1946.
