General Note
  • General note - Model community in Zamboanga City was named in honor of the Spanish General Fernando de Ayala, who had been appointed warden and in charge of Fort Santiago by Gov. Gen. Alonso Fajardo de Tena (1618-1624). The barrio is located some 17 kilometers of asphalted drive along the west coast and is the headquarters of the U.S. Peace Corps in that region.
